Feeling anxious, stressed and can’t cope with this strange situation we are all in right now? I hear you! I’m feeling personally like being on a rollercoaster: sometimes at ease and thankful for the little things that I still have (and are maybe not normal for so many people in the world even at “normal times”)- such as having food, a clean shower or my 2 fur babies! But sometimes this strange time of social distancing and never to go out of the house gives me really weird “apocalyptic” vibes and makes me feel depressed. Like – how long will this situation last? Will this ever end?
However, I’ve found little ways that make my life less stressful and help me with anxiety, maybe they help you too going through this rough time! Simple tips will help you relax and put things in perspective!
1. Taking a bath!
I have been always a bath lover, I just find the water around my body calming and relaxing and healing! My favorite bath oils and bubble baths are from Kneipp- it’s a very popular German brand but thanks to Amazon they are also available here. They use essential oils – never fake fragrances. My personal faves are: Eucalyptus, Dream Away and Lavender.
I also have a glass (or two) of wine with me, a couple of candles and I like to turn on music! My husband can never belief that I am able to stay in the tub for like 2 hours! And boy do I feel relaxed after! 🛀🍷
2. Create your own little at-home facial!
Concentrating on something else will put your thoughts completely in your activity and I find giving yourself your own little facial can do the trick! I find it very calming and relaxing to do that!
Here is an idea on what you could do:
1. Cleanse your face with a mild facial cleanser.
2. Scrub your face with a gentle microdermabrasion scrub (this one is my all time favorite, you will fall in love if you have never tried it)
3. Apply your favorite mask (this one is a great exfoliating mask, this one is a great detoxifying mask, or make your own mask)
4. Drink your favorite tea (my fave is this one) while the mask is doing its job!
5. Wash the mask off and apply your favorite moisturizer (this is my current fave).
Ta-da- you just spend approximately 15-20 minutes and haven’t had a bad thought, right? Plus your skin feels amazing and there is no need to apply any makeup- cause you won’t leave the home anyway! 😏
3. Watch relaxing videos
Have you heard of ASMR videos yet? No? Then you are in for a treat! ASMR= Autonomous sensory meridian response is a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine.
Here are some videos that give me exactly that feeling! They are so relaxing!!!
4. Watch cat videos!
Distract yourself with funny cat videos- seriously! What better distraction from life is there- besides having real fur babies? Here are some of my faves:
5. Listen to music
Yes, you can listen to relaxing music (I like this playlist), but even if you listen to your favorite music from the ’90s or any loud music you enjoy, this can be so uplifting. Sing out loud too!
